Default Wal-Mart Settles Law Suit

The retail giant, Wal-Mart has agreed to settle a law suit against them by employees who have stated that they are owed wages for overtime and they say that at times they were not allowed to take breaks.

Wal-Mart will have to pay between $352 million and $640 million. That is no chump change! A total of 63 suits were filed in various courts over the past eight years by employees who say they were short changed by the company.

Wal-Mart says that paying the law suit will cause the fourth quarter profits to go down by $250 million, or 6 cents a share.

The settlements are still subject to court approval but the lawyers involved feel the settlement is fair to all concerned.

That's a lot of money for the company to have to pay, but the employees are entitled to be paid for all the time that they work. I've worked for companies that didn't give breaks the way they should and this gets to be very stressful for the employees. Especially in a job that has a lot of stress, as I'm sure that working in WalMart does - especially during the holiday season with all the shoppers and short tempers. I hope the employees get the money that's due them.

It is good to see people fight for what they deserve!!! If we all would fight as hard to get our government to do what is right, we would be ok...Like that will ever happen huh?
