Default Will water be the next oil

Will water be the next to rise in price and need. Well General Electric seems to think so and they are looking to the future now.

Quote:
BOSTON (May 28) - Surging oil prices have captured the attention of consumers and leaders around the globe, but General Electric Co. is already on to what it thinks will be the world's next big worry -- water.

The company said on Wednesday it aims to cut its water usage 20 percent by 2012, a move that should reduce its annual operating costs by $15 million to $20 million.

"There is going to be a price on water that is going to reflect its scarcity, and today it doesn't," Lorraine Bolsinger, vice president of GE's Ecomagination green-business push, said in a phone interview. "We're going to see that change over time, certainly in the emerging markets."
GE Eyes World's Next Big Worry: Water
By Scott Malone,

I have to agree. When will water be the next high demand product. I know what you are thinking There is always going to be water. Not necessarily. Yes it rains and snows and that helps to suppy our water. But with acid rain and oil being dumped in our oceans and all the other pollutens that are dumped in our water ways How much does it cost to clean it up so we can drink it. Food for Thought I guess.

Default Will water be the next oil.

I have seen programs on TV about possible droughts and the havoc it would reek on our country if it happened.

Imagine not having water to irrigate what plants we might be able to grow. Not being able to take a bath or a shower any time we felt like it.

Water is another of our resources that we take for granted, but we need to realize that this is something that the demand can outweigh the supply.

Yes we have oceans of water and they can make fresh water out of it, but I imagine that it is very expensive to do so.

We have lakes, but that water isnt potable (drinkable) either due to the mercury content. In fact, the mercury of some lakes and streams is so high that it is advised that we do not consume any fish taken from that area.

We do have natural springs, and these can be used to drink from, but please be on the safe side, and before you drink this water, take a sample to your local health department to have it analyzed.

We need to take care of our water supply now, in order to have a plentiful supply in the future.

Default Will water be the next oil

Having to pay money for a glass of water is uncalled for in my
opinion. Our planet is made up of mostly water. What is the problem?
I have to say that we have polluted so much of it that it is the cost
of removing the pollution that makes water one of those things you
have to purchase. Spings are a good source of water. I love sping
water because it is tasty but the other post mentions having it tested.
She is correct however because there are possibly tasteless and oderless
chemicals ectera that could be in the water and any number of these can
be harmful. Be sure and be safe have it tested.

I have to say with every thing we have done to the planet its not going to take long for the planet to start giving us back the crap we have put into her i mean what do we expect we can not destroy things and not think that there is not going to be repercussions from this any one who belives this has been living on another planet for far too long

I know that alot of areas rely on reservoir to supply them with water and when there is a drought they are to reserve water any way possible and that means no water lawns and no washing cars and things of that nature. If we don't watch what we are doing Water could become the next Oil.
