Default America to the rescue again??

Anyone who watches the news I am sure has heard by now about the earthquake that happened in Japan earlier today!!

I wonder how much of this countries money and help will be sent over there!! I believe they should take care of this problem themselves. Our country has enough to deal with already and we don't need to add to the problems. Helping other countries right now when we are in dire need of help ourselves is just making things worse for all of us here.

If these other countries aren't able to deal with their own problems then they need to learn and fast. The United States should not be responsible for the entire world!! If times were different and we didn't have the problems, illnesses, natural disasters that we do have then maybe helping out on occasion wouldn't be so bad, but that isn't how things are.

I agree with you that we should be helping our own more than we do. And that statement doesn't come from selfishness but because if we are not well than we cannot help others like we would be able to. It just makes more sense to make sure that our own are taken care of first. Unfortunately, not everyone feels that way.

As for helping Japan with money because of the disaster be careful who you are sending money to. I just read an article that says scammers are on top of this and taking advantage of it.

You can go to the secretary of state's website and check out any charity organization.

“If you decide to donate money to the Japanese tsunami relief effort, you would want your money to go where it can do the most good to help victims and their families,” Secretary of State Sam Reed said on his agency’s blog From Our Corner. “So we encourage you to check before you give by doing your homework on the charities asking for your money. We don’t want scammers to benefit from this tragedy.”

You just never know who to trust. Check out any charity before you send any money.

This is sad that scammers are taking advantage of the kindness of others to rip them off.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that this is happening because those who create these scams are always on the look out for new ways of getting out of actually working for a living.
