Default Chain Business

This is a bit weird in a way. In an area not far from where I live McDonalds is building a third restaurant. This one is only about 3 miles if that from the other two in the area.

I don't understand why they would add in a third restaurant so close to two others. I am happy that this means there is more employment in the area right now with the construction crews working and then later on with employee's serving the food, but I think it is a bit of an overkill.

I could be wrong on all of this, they might be building this new one in order to close down one of the older ones, but I don't know about this. If this is what they are going to do it makes a bit more sense, but if it isn't what they are going to do it's still an overkill and a huge expense.

One of the reasons may be because its so close to a 4 lane highway that does get a large amount of traffic.

Does the other two do a big bunch of business? If so, that may be why they are adding yet another restaurant.

Let us know if they do close one down once the new one is finished and up and running. I would be very interested in knowing how this all works out.

Well when we went passed the restaurants this morning there were construction barrels across the entrance and the exit, but the lot was full of customers so I am still not exactly sure what is going on or what will go on.

It will be interesting to see just what is going to happen. Your right about it being a high traffic area where these 3 McDonalds are located, but it still doesn't make much sense to have them all so close together. I am guessing that there is one of them that is going to be shut down and the employees of that one will be transfered to the new building.

At least this isn't going to mean that more people are going to be laid off and so on. That is the last things anyone needs right now, when unemployment is just barely starting to possibly turn around.

I sure hope that there wont be any layoffs. This is an area that is low in jobs to begin with and any lost jobs would sure be bad for the local economy.

Please let us know if one of the other restaurants are shut down or if there will actually be 3 in your area after all. Having 3 could still work out well I would think because of the high traffic in the area.

And having 3 restaurants would sure be good for your neighborhood.

Well I don't think we need 3 McDonalds on the same street just a short distance from one another. This is why I don't think there will be any lay offs. I think employees from one will be transfered to the new location.

From what I heard last night one of the McDonalds is in need of serious repair in the kitchen area which is why a new building has been built. I guess they decided it wasn't worth the repairs and to just build a new one.

Though I sure would like to know what they are going to do with the old building that needs repaired!! It looks good on the outside but still it shouldn't be left to sit empty and slowly rotaway!

I use to live in a town that had three McDonald's, all owed by the same people, and believe it or not they all did very well.
