College Prices
Average cost of college keeps on going up.
A private four year has gone up 5.9% from last year. A public four year has gone up 6.4% from last year. Public two year up 4.7%.
College textbooks are also on the rise. In the 1930's the textbooks could be bought for $3.00 each. Here is a breakdown of who gets the money from the books that are sold.
The publisher gets 64.6% of the sticker price of a new book, the author gets 11.6%, and the shipper gets 1.3%, and the store that sells the book, get the rest. After the store pays all of it’s overhead, it averages out to be about 6.5 cents (before taxes) on each dollar made.
Unfortunately, in our world today, not only does both husband and wife have to work, our kids almost have to go to college to make a living. I remember when just graduating from high school was enough. Now you almost need a college degree to get a job.
When all this smoke clears, and jobs start to open again, I pray the college students can find jobs. Especially because of the very large expense of going to school.
