Default Good or bad? Gasoline incentives.

There are quite a few incentives out there for gasoline.
Are they worth it however. Its another of those buyer
beware situations.

Quote:
Buy a car, get a gas discount.
Buy groceries, get a gas discount.
Book a hotel room — what else? Get a gas card.
Some businesses are tapping into consumer anxiety over gasoline prices to lure customers.
But analysts and business leaders warn that potential customers should make sure any gas incentive fits their needs and actually saves money.

Discounts are really nice to have but you have to make sure the
deal is going to save you money. You don't want to have to spend
a lot of money just to get a little back.

Default Gasoline incentives.

I used to go to the Exxon all the time because you got a card and got points for each dollar that you spent there. Two months ago, for 1250 points, you got $35 worth of free gas or merchandise, now you have to get 2500 points for $50.

I quit going there, for one thing, their gas is higher than I can get it for elsewhere and the points I earned was incentive for me to go back. If they had left the point system as it was, I would still go there. But, the way I look at it is, gas is higher, I am getting less for my dollar and now I have to earn more points. No way!!

I will to another gas station that is actually closer to home, has no incentives, but yet the gasoline is cheaper.

My sister in law also used the Exxon gas points but now it doesn't pay to use it because the point rates went higher for less in return. She also goes to another station that keeps there gas prices lower than exxon.
