Default Midwest flooding pushes corn prices up.

We should have seen this coming. I expect to have to pay
a small fortune for a couple of ears of corn.

Quote:
Corn prices soared to record highs on Thursday as flooding damaged crop prospects in the U.S. Midwest, heightening concern over shrinking stocks and fueling the market's relentless advance.
Torrential rains have swept across the Midwest, the key growing region in the world's top producer, resulting in floods which have destroyed homes, as well as thousands of acres of corn and soybeans.

Midwest flooding pushes corn prices up.

Its a shame to see this happen especially with the economy
being as bad as it is.

I really hate to hear this, we are already paying a fortune for our groceries and now they are going up even higher. Milk, eggs, cheese, meats and veggies are staples for us and we can barely afford them now. I don't know what we or any family in America are going to do.

They say that any crop that spends 24 hours under water is ruined and the water out there wont be going away any time soon. Plus, all this water will end up in the Missippi River and the result will be more flooding all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

So, no, it sure doesnt look good and prices are going to be even higher than before. And this winter will be hell for everyone because of the fuel prices and to put the price of food up even higher wont help at all.

I know we are all complaining of the high prices of food and what more the flooding is going to do to the prices of food. But remember that these famers are loosing so much more than their crop they are loosing their homes and there livelihood. How helpless are they feeling now.
