Default Midwest flooding to cause raise in food prices.

The devastation caused by the flooding in the midwest, not only has caused 24 deaths and destroyed many homes, it has also destroyed fields full of crops.

The most significant loss crop wise has been corn. And since corn is used to feed cattle, chickens, etc, the cost of beef, chicken, eggs, and milk will increase significantly. And those in the know dont expect to see any relief from these higher prices until sometime next year.

We also have to take into consideration how hard it will be for the cross country truckers to do their jobs right now. Getting through the flood areas is going to be a daunting task for them, and that will also drive prices up and not only in the area of food consumption.

Most of this flooding has been due to levee failures and now that the flood is approaching St. Louis, they are talking about possible levee failure there. They already knew that the levees were not up to standard and even pictured water lying in a field near one of these levees which means that the levee itself has already been compromised.

Between fuel prices, high food prices now and then the food prices going even higher because of this massive flooding in the midwest, this winter is going to be rough on everyone. And especially rough on the people with very limited incomes.
