Sears to close stores.

Sears will be closing between 100 and 120 Sears and KMart stores due to a drop in sales during the holiday season.

"There's been a significant shift online because of the sales tax savings," he said. "Consumers see it as an instant discount and most online retailers are delivering for free. That puts Sears and other land-based retailers at a significant disadvantage for the foreseeable future."

When you consider that I live within 7 miles of a Sears store and they would charge me $75 to deliver to my home, I can see the problem. Plus, Sears are much higher on the appliances that I am going to be buying in the next few months, and the prices are sale prices at that.

Sears has over 4,000 stores nationwide, but have not yet said where the store closings will be at.

It has come down to the fact that Sears will be closing 79 Sears and Kmart stores and luckily ours here in SE Ohio isnt going to be one of them.

There are also rumors about the possibility that Sears will be filing bankruptcy. Perhaps they need to learn from my experience the other day when I found a store in the same mall that has the same appliances on sale for $200 to $300 cheaper and with free delivery.

When you pay the larger amounts, you are only paying for the store name anyway.
