Default Seven States to get Increase in Minimum Wage

A state determines the minimum wage rate according to inflation rate changes. Well seven states are going to increase the minimum wage rate beginning January 1st of the new year.

The states bumping up the minimum wage rate are Ohio, Oregon, Montana, Arizona, Colorado, Vermont and Washington.

Don't get too excited though because the bump is only between .09 cents and .12 cents on the hour.

Quote:
Washington will raise minimum wages the most -- by 12 cents -- bringing the state's hourly rate to $8.67 and adding an extra $20 a month to paychecks. Colorado will hike its minimum wage by 11 cents, while Arizona, Montana, Ohio and Oregon will raise it by 10 cents. Vermont will boost its minimum wage by nine cents.
Thats not a lot but I guess every cent does count. It's an extra half tank of gas for the month!

Its good to see that Ohio is on that list. We need an increase in the minimum rate.

But, as you said, its not much and doesnt really help all that much in the greater scheme of things. And when you consider the fact that the more you make, the more taxes you pay. So actually when you come right down to it, it doesnt help much at all.

What we need is a dollar an hour increase, not just a mere 10 cents. Most people right now are living right at or below the poverty level and that dime an hour increase does nothing at all to bring anyone up out of that level.

Yes i agree that a increase in the minimum wage is awesome.

I just would like to see the job market increase in job openings as well

This rate looks good on paper but to have a job to really see the effects is something else.

It may only be a few cents on the dollar but as they say every penny

counts. So yes this is good for all of those still having a job ,

But let me ask this is the increase just for the working or will this show

up on any one collecting unemployment? Or dose their rate still depend on

the job wage they had before loosing their jobs?
