Default Auto Insurance

A short time ago I mentioned that I helped my old man find a better insurance for his car that wasn't so expensive.

Well now that he has switched he is now getting letters and emails as well as phone calls from his old insurance company offering him all kinds of deals and shit trying to get him to come back to his old insurance company.

Funny thing about all of this is that even though they are claiming to give him some great deals on his auto insurance, he is still saving money with the insurance company I found for him.

It just amazes me that his old insurance company is pestering him so much trying to get his business back. He has informed them several times that he is not going to be switching back, but they aren't listening to him.

Thats a load of crap. There should be a law or something like that to keep asses like these people from harassing you. If you tell them no then no means no. They shouldnt be allowed to keep calling and bugging people. They need to take a hint and take him off their calling list. If he has to have him tell them that he has told them several times no and if they keep calling he will get the company for harrassment. Maybe that will get them to quit calling.

Your right it is really annoying, dealing with that all of the time. However we also find it a bit amusing because they are desperate to get his business back, which tells us that, that company most likely isn't one that he should be dealing with.

Besides he is to nice of a person to tell them off, so I am just hoping that we are together the next time that they do call so that I will get the pleasure of dealing with them and telling them exactly where to stick their so called pathetic deal!!

I personally believe that if a company is willing to go to such lengths to get a customer back as they are, well then there is something wrong there and it's best that he no longer has to deal with them.

Besides as I said the deals they keep offering him aren't worth him going back to them at all. Where I sent him he is still saving a whole lot of money every month on his insurance.

If you write them and tell them to stop contacting you, I do believe they have to honor your request or else face the consequences. Keep in mind when I say write, I really do mean "write." When you call to get their mailing address for the appropriate department to contact, you can ask to be taken off of their mailing list. Maybe they can do it over the phone, but I doubt it....

I ran into that BS with COMCAST not too long ago. They were sending me these BS "postcards" with their offers every week. Sometimes twice a week. And 99% of the time, it was the same advertisement. I finally got fed up with it and emailed them. At first I had tried via live chat, but after waiting 30 minutes to reach someone, I emailed them. They told me to try live chat, but I told them I'm not waiting forever to try and reach someone. They finally honored my request and I haven't received anything from them since then.

Yes when you do write to a company they have to honor your request or they face the possibility to be sued.

The same things goes for annoying telemarketing phone calls, if you tell them that you want placed on their do not call list they also have to honor that for the same reasons.

This is something I will do soon with the old auto insurance company because it is starting to get on my nerves. I hate trying to sit down to dinner with my sweetie and have the phone ring with some stupid telemarketer trying to get him to switch back to his old insurance.

It sad that we have to do such things as requesting not to be contacte by companies, but most of the time these places of business does not give a person the choice really.

There are also rumors going around about telemarketing calls being made to people's cell phones. This is something that has always been legal by telemarketing companies, however telemarketing companies are barred from doing such things with out consent from the cell phone owners.

So if you have never given consent for this then your safe. However if you have at any time given consent then your cell number is probably being sold off and you could start recieving these annoying calls anywhere.

Here is more information on this subject.

Telemarketers *can* call cell phones, as long as it's not done via an autodialer, and/or some sort of recorded message telling you to call back or hold for a representative. The same applies for collection agencies, but in addition, they cannot call your cell phone unless you specifically gave them that number. If they obtained your cell phone number via any other means, it is illegal for them to call you on your cell phone.

Also, if you don't want to get junk mail for "pre-approved" credit cards or general spam from insurance companies, you can opt-out at https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t . Amazingly enough, the credit reporting agencies hand this information out to any company that requests it. That's how these places get your name and address and all that good stuff without your SS#.

And lastly, you can put your landline telephone number on the Do Not Call list @ www.donotcall.gov. Keep in mind that if you've done business with someone in the past, I believe that they can still contact you; and certain non-profit organizations can still call for donations and stuff, as well. But, it does cut out a good 90%+ of all "spam" calls.
