Default Choosing options for health insurance.

We had to choose whether we wanted the premium package or
the basic package when we signed up for our new health insurance.
You need to weigh the value here.

If you get just the basic you will
of course pay a smaller premium week to week. Then when you go
to the doctors office you pay a higher copay. It seems that this is
a good option if you are healthy and don't go often.

With the premium package you pay a higher premium and a smaller
copay. This is good if you go often.

We struggled and thought long and hard about the options. We are
healthy but we are getting older. Thank god we chose the better
package.

My son was recently diagnosed with cancer and it is saving
us a lot of money. The last statement I recieved was for $1500 and
we only have a $20 copay that we have to make out of all of that.
You should always consider acts of god. You never know what is really
going on inside your body. You may not have symptoms now but may
have them in the future.

Accidents although preventable in most cases
do happen and can cost you more than you are finacially able to pay.

I hope that this helps you when you have to make such a decision in
the future.

Thank you for the valuable input on the health insurance issue. A lot of times it is so hard to decide what to do when it comes to choosing the right amount of health insurance.

But as you stated, as one starts to age, the likelihood of ones health becoming less than optimal should dictate the type of health insurance you decide to get.

Plus, as you stated, in your sons case, things happen that you cant forsee and wouldnt expect, so getting the insurance you did is going to be a life saver for your family.

Thank you for sharing.
