Default Medical Insurance

Earlier today I had lunch with my other half and his Mother. She was telling us that her medical insurace which they had through her husbands company has changed and it's not good.

I guess she now has a deductable of $650.00 and this all happened before she has to go in for several tests and a biopsy, which she is not sure the insurance will cover. Before all this would have been covered by the insurance but now she is no longer sure. She has to make some phone calls and do a bit of research to see what is and isn't covered.

She may have to skip on getting some of the tests she needs done because of the costs of them.

Why does it seems that insurance companies are making it to where people can not afford to get sick at all??

Pretty soon a person is gonna have to be a multi millionaire to be able to see a doctor in this country!!

The problem with such a large deductible is that most times we can have medical insurance for years and not have to use it, therefore not meeting the deductible.

Is there some way she can get the deductible reduced. It would of course mean higher premiums but would probably be worth the additional costs.

It does seem that a lot of insurance companies dont pay for many of the tests etc that need to be done and one would expect that if you have medical insurance, that it would cover any procedure one would need.

I don't know if she can get the deductable reduced or not. Something tells me with all of the health issues that both her and her husband suffer from, they need insurance that is going to take care of them and allow them to get the treatments and tests needed to keep them going.

What is the use of having health insurance if it isn't going to cover the costs of medical treatments needed??

It makes no sense to me. No wonder there are so many people in this country who don't have medical insurance. People can't afford to pay high premiums, plus the costs of everything that their so called insurance won't cover.

The deductables are getting bigger and bigger and the coverage smaller and smaller. I know no one wants Obama care the way it is now but if he succeeds in passing a program that helps I am all for it.

Its time that the insurance companies, hospitals, doctors and nurses had to deal with every patient on the same level. And by this I mean provide the same level of care. I also would like to see doctors re-evaluated periodically as I know at least one who if he had been my fathers only doctor would have successfully killed him.

This man told dad that he was perfectly healthy during a hospital stay and this was only a couple of weeks before he was diagnosed with lung cancer, cataplexy and sleep apneia. HELLO can you say needs his license revoked.

Thankfully your Dad had more than just this one doctor!!! I know that doctors aren't perfect but that is way out there. I have to agree that doctors do need to be re-evaluated on occasion. The sad thing is that hospitals are more than happy to cover up any mistakes that a doctor makes because it is cheaper to do that than it is to pay a lawsuit!!!

I strongly believe that people should be treated equal when it comes to health care and their needs. Those with insurance should not be treated better than those with out. It is horrible. If there was a plan that would ensure that people got the care they needed I would also be behind it completely.

However something tells me that is never going to happen.

I do agree that doctors especially should be evaluated periodically. Most people, however, go to these kinds of doctors, become unhappy with them and just find another doctor and never say anything about the shoddy care they got.

Perhaps there should be a place online where people could go to air their bad experiences with these doctors so that others can be forewarned.

I think that would be a great idea. Now we all know that doctors are not going to like that one little bit, but maybe it would force them to treat their patients like human beings rather than unfeeling animals or something!!

I love that idea and it shouldn't be for those doctors that people have had a bad experience with. I think it would be good to show case those who do amazing work and really do care about the people they are taking care of.

it seems that there are many doctors out there that have gotten a bad reputation because there are to many doctors who don't care about anything other than their pay check. So listing those who really care and tend to go above and beyond the needs of a patient should be known as well.
