Default Over Paying for Auto Insurance

I can not believe this. The gentleman that I am seeing has a 2004 monte carlo. For his car he pays over $125.00 per month on insurance and no he doesn't have full coverage insurance.

I about died when I saw his insurance bill. I asked him why he was paying that much and he simply said that is what the company charges.

Needless to say he is no longer paying that high price. After about 10 minutes at my computer I was able to get him several quotes for insurance which offered more coverage than what he was getting for a whole lot less.

I believe he went with another company which offered even more insurance that what he had for a total price of $60.00 per month. Now that is going to be a HUGE savings on his part and the even better part of this is that the company has an office not far at all from where he lives. That is always a plus in my book.

Now that he has switched his auto insurance he is also now looking into his home owners insurance to see if he can also find some savings there as well. Now that I got him on the idea of saving more money, he is most likely going to be looking into other ways of saving money as well.

well thats always good. now days saving any little bit counts. i know that different cars go up or down in prices. sometime i feel like all anyone is trying to do is just take peoples money.

what happened to the good ole days back when people would search high and low to find the lowest prices for their costumers. now no one cares about anyone its all about making a quick buck here and there. its sad.

but that is good to hear and who knows after its all said and done all the money he saved up by switching insurance he can spend on something yall both will enjoy.

Checking into other companies to compare prices on any insurance you have is a good idea.

I have insurance on my car which is an older one and it only costs me $27 a month for the minimum required insurance and uninsured motorist. Plus it has $100,000 medical costs with it. That to me is a great price because I dont see any need for full coverage insurance on any car thats over 7 years old.

If you wreck, you arent going to get what you paid out of the car anyway. And the out of pocket can be really high when you do have an accident.

It's sickening what some people pay in car insurance just because they don't shop around.

And I know first hand that you cannot believe what the insurance companies say in their advertisments. I was paying something $50 bucks a month for insurance, just liability- and I decided to get a quote from them because they say they can save you so much money. Well it was actually going to cost me and extra $30 each month to have the same coverage that I had. That was few years ago.

Now I have Progressive and it is the best i have ever had. I only pay $29.00 a month and the coverage is good.

I don't understand how these companies can have so many varied quotes with the same exact information that you give them. They are out to get your money thats all there is to it.

Insurance companies are able to get away with taking people's money because most people refuse to spend a little bit of time searching out the best possible deal for the least amount of money.

My sweetie, even though he should have done the research himself did have a bit of an excuse. He works nights and so he sleeps through the day. However online insurance quotes can be accessed 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Now that he is saving money with his auto insurance, I am helping him look into other insurance's as well to see if we can also save him a bit more money on the other's.

If more people took the time to search out better prices for the same or better coverage there would be a whole lot of insurance companies rethinking their way of business. All they care about is the money you pay out to them.

If you have bad/questionable credit, ALWAYS make sure that you ask the company you're getting a quote from if they base your premium on your credit score. The major ones, such as Allstate (they're the worst!!!!), Progressive and GEICO are among the worst of the worst when it comes to this. Allstate makes it seem as if it's their god given right to treat people with bad credit like they're lowlifes, and then proceed to charge them as much as humanly possible.

Some time ago, apparently some )@#*$* insurance company hired an "impartial" agency to do a study, which concluded that people with bad credit make for a higher risk of driver (imagine that!!!!!), and the government went along with it, and guess what??? Even if you have a perfect driving record, if you have bad credit, you're going to be paying at least double what you would pay than if you had good credit.

I'm not sure what states my insurance company covers, but I saved almost 75% from what GEICO was charging me, for the exact same coverage.

I'm with Erie insurance, and they're great. I was in an accident 2 months ago (not my fault,) and they've been on the ball in regards to paying my medical bills as soon as they are presented to them from the hospital/doctors/physical therapist, etc.

I currently have full coverage, and I'm only paying roughly $40 a month for coverage which includes a $200 comp, and $1000 collision deductible, along with Rental coverage for both instances.
