Think about it, you put a lot of stuff in tweets, on Facebook, and on MySpace and other social networking places online. Well, its quite possible that insurance companies etc will be making up a Social Networking Score on you based on what you put online.
For instance, insurance companies charge less for non smokers than smokers when it comes to life insurance. And if you put a picture on one of the social networks of you having a cigarette at the club last nite, well the gig is up and so are your premiums.

"I think we're going to see data mining companies sweeping the Internet and collating public data about what you like and say and where you go online and use that info to create a social media score that companies can buy," predicts Douglas Heller, executive director of Consumer Watchdog. "And they'll use that to decide how much to charge or whether or not to sell insurance to an individual based on that."

And what if you are on SSI because of an injury and theres a picture put on a social networking site of you doing something you said you cant do because of the injury? Well, there goes your claim. And your money.
Most people dont think about what they put on these sites. Not only may data mining companies gleen this information, but those sites are also visited by thieves etc. So be careful what you post.
