A new refrigerator.
I went the other day and bought groceries and brought them home and put everything away. There was quite a bit that had to go in the refrigerator and freezer. Everything seemed fine until I went to fix lunch the next day. Everything in the fridge was room temperature which of course meant that it all had to be trashed.
I called a repairman that was supposed to be here today to fix it and he hadnt showed up or called so I called them back only to find out he had left for the day.
To make a long story short, because this was the second time this fridge had gone bad on us, my husband and I headed for Sears.
We got a really nice side by side fridge with water and ice dispenser and a 5 year extended warranty. The total cost was just under $1500. But it was an expense that is well worth it. It seems you do get what you pay for these days and by purchasing a higher priced fridge it is less likely to break down than the cheap ones you can get at Sears.
Plus, you get a free yearly checkup on your new fridge for the length of the warranty period. A repairman will come in and check the fridge good for any problems, clean the coils etc so a little preventative maintaince is well worth the cost of the extended warranty.
Oh, and another plus of the extended warranty is that if the fridge goes bad and you have to throw food out, its covered and you cant beat that.
