Default Another Major Recall

There has been another major recall. This one is for General Motors 2005-2007 model Corvettes with removable roofs and 2006-2007 Corvette Z06s. They are recalling around 22,000 of these!

They are recalling these vehicles because there is some kind of a problem with the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame. They say that there can be seperation which can lead to the roof flying off, striking another vehicle and causing bodily harm and property damage!

Quote:
"If there is a complete separation, the roof panel may detach from the vehicle," according to the NHTSA. "If this were to occur while the vehicle was being driven, it could strike a following vehicle and cause injury and/or property damage."
cnn money

If you have this vehicle you need to take it to the nearest dealer right away. They will install a newly designed roof panel and install it for you at no charge.

Well I will be making sure that I try not to end up behind a corvette from now on.

What is it with these car manufacturers designing these cars so that after a while they have to be recalled??? Arent all cars tested and retested several times over before they are put out for people to purchase??

Though I am thankful that these recalls are posted in here, my hubby is a mechanic and this allows me to make sure that he knows about the recalls, this way he can warn anyone driving these cars that come to his shop so that the problems can get taken car of.

Why don;'t they do a safty check before they put the cars up for sell? That would save a lot of stress and work for them all way round. I remember when you bought a car and did not have to worry about a recall because they did it right the first time.

According to my hubby who is an auto mechanic, he says that new cars are not put through a safety check because, many small car salesmen dont have the proper knowledge to check the cars. They are simply there to sell them.

However on another note car manufactures will have the cars inspected before it is sold to the public, at this time if there are any issues found with the cars the company will continue to ship out the cars, yet inform the dealerships of the issues and the dealerships fix the problems and bill the manufacturer of the car.

Car makers do not test drive the cars and neither do the dealerships which is why most problems go unnoticed. If they were to actually test drive these new cars these problems would most likely be detected before issues happened, though then the car would no longer be considered a new one.

Now if this is all true, it makes no sense what so ever!!! This is the reason that there are so many cars being recalled and so many that are a danger the drivers as well as other on the road.

What they need to do is start making these cars like they used to a long time ago when they were all very much built to last for many, many years!!!
