Default Bride to Be Ebay's Bridesmaid Spot in Her Wedding

As we all know, weddings can get very expensive quickly. You have to decorate, buy gowns and tux's, food and cake, rent a reception hall and so on and so on. This couple found a way to help with those costs.

Kelly Gray and fiance Karl Gau want to be married on April 19, 2009, but their combined salaries for a year are only $32,000. Kelly and her bridesmaids were looking into ways to help raise funds to help pay for the wedding. Kelly thought about doing a bake sale to raise money and one of the bridesmaids said they should auction something on ebay. They then decided to auction a bridesmaid position in her wedding on ebay. The winner would receive a dress and shoes, if the winner happened to be a man, he would get a tux.

Kelly really didn't expect anything to come of it, she didn't expect to have any bidders. Next thing the couple knew, their story was being told all over the news and they were being interviewed by newspapers and television networks.

When the bidding ended on Wednesday at 7:27 pm, the winning bid was $5,700. The winning bidder's name was "drpeppersnapple". It turns out that the bidder was the company Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. They have upped the ante from the $5700 bid to a sweet $10,000 and have decided to provide the beverages.

Gray really wants a nice wedding and was trying to keep the costs of it within her budget of $7,000. She planned to bake the cake herself and to use an ipod instead of paying a D.J. Now, she can plan for a little more extravagance.

The Dr. Pepper Snapple Group plans to start a website for the couple to find them a bridesmaid or possibly even provide for a suprise guest for the spot.

This bride-to-be certainly used some ingenuity on this one. Congratulations to her and her fiance in exceeding their goal.

I'm sure that the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Company are getting a lot of free advertising from this venture, and kudos to them for going for it. In any case, it's very nice that the company is willing to do all of this for the couple.

I hope that the bride gets someone special for her bridesmaid. I'm sure she's wondering who it will be, and anxious to find out.
