Default Carfax Reports

I see a lot of advertisements for this Carfax report. Its supposed to help you when you purchasing a used car.

Though one question I have about this is that if a car was damaged and the owner either fixed it themselves or hired a friend to deal with the problem then it is not going to show up on this Carfax report.

So is it really worth the time and trouble to get this report on a car your interested in when it may or may not have all damages and problems with the car on it.

I know of a lot of people who work on their own cars or they hire someone to do it for them. It is a lot less expensive doing it this way. As we all know hiring a mechanic can be very costly.

Though I wonder if it is really worth using this Carfax report to check on a car you may want to purchase?
