Default Family Car

This is sad news, well for me it is anyway. My sweetie has decided to sell off our SUV for another family car.

He is wanting something smaller, easier on gas (which the Explorer is actually easy on gas) and doesnt need so many repairs.

Let me explain the SUV only needs brake lines, gas lines, tires and ball joints. Now keep in mind that he is a mechanic and all of these things would be quite easy for him to fix.

I love the SUV. It is comfortable to ride in, it looks great, and has plenty of room to haul our groceries and things, all in all its in great condition and I hate the idea of getting rid of it.

Any ideas on how I can possibly talk him into keeping it rather than going out and getting another so called family car??

He keeps looking at these foreign cars that to me look as though they were smashed up against a wall both front and back,LOL. Sorry but those cars just look silly to me. I really want to keep the SUV.

I wouldnt really mind him selling off the car if he had plans on buying another SUV, but that isnt the case. He apparently wants some goofy looking car. Those cars he has been looking at arent that comfortable to ride in either, so to me this is a losing situation.

Would it be possible for him to keep the SUV just for use on family outings and maybe buy a small car for driving back and forth to work and so on? That sounds like the simplest solution to me.

How old is the SUV though? Does it have a lot of miles? Maybe thats what he is thinking about.

Well I have some good news. At least to me it is good news,LOL. My sweetie has decided to keep the SUV because everyone here loves it. Though because he wanted a family car, he recently purchased me a car that can be used when ever we dont want to use the SUV.

The car he bought is a Subaru Impreza. It is a really cute car. It does need a bit of work however, but thankfully Rob is a mechanic, so this means that we will save alot of money getting the car back on the road. I guess that the previous owners of the car didnt have the money to fix the car, so decided to just get rid of it.

What was their loss has become my gain. The car is a 1995 model, but looking at it, it looks as though its almost brand new. It was cared for that is for sure.

I guess that the repairs needed for the car would have cost the previous owners around $700.00 this includes the labor of the mechanic. Though because Rob will be doing the work, its going to cost us around $100.00. That is one heck of a savings. Now I know why I want to learn how to work on cars.

This will be my car to get to the store and the kids to the doctors, but also it will used as a family car because it will be very easy on gas, comfortable and means that we wont be running the SUV to death all the time.
