Hewlett-Packard makes another purchase
Hewlett-Packard stated on Tuesday that it has completed the purchase of Electronic Data Systems for 13.9 billion dollars. This is the largest purchase Hewlett-Packard has made since 2002 when they took over Compaq for the price of 20 billion dollars.
Hwelett-Packard hopes that the expansion of their services with the acquisition of the IT service company will expand their business in outsourcing services and technology consulting, which are very lucrative fields.
In recent years Mark Hurd who is the chief executive of HP has a great record for managing the integration of Compaq along with several other companies in the last few years, so he will not have a problem integrating another 140,000 employees.
The annul revenue for HP is over 100 billion dollars, and employees around 172,000 people before EDS deal.
Collectively last year two companies recieved more than 37 billion dollars in IT services from revenue. The leader is IBM with more than 54 billion dollars.
