Default I Bought a MiniVan!

I am so excited right now! Finally, I will have a reliable vehicle! I am in the process of purchasing a Ford Windstar minivan. It is kind of older but in mint condition. It is a 1996 model. It has been extremely well taken care of. It belonged to an older lady and she had it serviced every 3,000 miles on the dot.

She is the mother of a friend of ours and she has decided that she wants a smaller car. She knew that we were pretty much getting desperate for a better vehicle and so she offered the van to me for $500.00 bucks! And she also knew that I couldn't come up with the money all at once so she is letting me make payments. God Bless this woman!!!

I currently have a minivan that is a 1989 Dodge Caravan. Boy have I put the miles on it with the kids in sports and me working. I have broken down in that thing so many times it isn't funny. I pray every morning that it will start so that I can get to work! It needs a new motor thats all there is to it and I just cannot afford to put one into it right now.

I actually have the new van in my driveway right now but I cannot drive it until I make another payment to the owner. Once I make the next payment she is putting it into my name and then I will be on the road lol. Seeing it sit there and me not being able to drive it is killing me!!!

The new van has lots of great features that have me excited. It has remote start. This winter I will be able to push a button from inside my house warm it up without stepping outside into the cold! It also has air conditioning which I have never had. Well, every vehicle I have ever had had it but it never worked. It has tilt, and cruise control. It has auto windows. I can even open and close the windows in the very back from the drivers seat. It also has radio controls in the backseat and headphone jacks too!

I know I am babbling but I am just so happy right now. Trying to get a vehicle has been weighing on my mind so much, this is a true blessing!

I am so happy for you Pennypinch. With children, you really do need a good vehicle.

I pray this will be a good, dependable van to last you a very, very long time. It sounds really nice. What a nice lady to sell it to you for such a good price.

I know how stressful a broke down car can do to someone. Congratulations to you and your family on your new addition.

I am glad to hear that you were able to find someone who was willing to help you out with a great car at a great price!! This is something that you dont find very often and I'm glad you were there to find it Pennypinch.

I have also had a few cars which left me stranded places and it is never fun trying to find help. I know that working and having kids is hard enough, though when you dont have reliable transportation it makes things much worse. I hope that you never have to deal with breakdowns and such ever again. It sure sounds like this minivan was well cared for and I am hopeful that it will give you many years of worry free enjoyment!!

Me too lol! Thanks for the well wishes both of you.

I know one thing for sure, I will be having the oil changed and all that other stuff done regularly!

Okay so I am so in love with my new car. You have no idea of the piece of poo I was driving lol. It was really bad!

Anyhow, I have a question for you all and I am really hoping someone can give me an answer. Here goes....

My van has a remote starter installed on it. I love that it has this because I will be able to warm it up in the mornings before I have to go to work and I won't have to go out in the cold to do so! My problem is, I don't know how to use it! I know how to start the van using the remote. I can do that with no problem. But what do I do when I am ready to drive it? Do I put the key in the ignition? Do I turn the key in the ignition? I am so clueless and the last thing I want to do is to do harm to the vehicles starter or the remote starter, costing me money I don't have! I just don't know what to do.

I have searched and searched for this answer on the net but all I can really find is how to install a remote starter. Thats not what I need. Help!!!
