New Computers
Both my hubby and my son recently purchased new computers for themselves. They are some really nice computers. I am surprised at how fast the can move from one page online to another.
Heck my computer can take up to 4 minutes to load one single page,LOL. I guess next time it is my turn for a new one!!
My hubbys computer cost him only $600.00, its just your basic desk top computer. Nothing really fancy though it has alot of memory, a flat screen monitor and a nice cd/dvd burner.
Now my sons computer is a bit more fancy and he of course paid alot more for his. His has the same as his dads but his monitor is a touch screen with a built in web cam! He paid nearly a thousand dollars for his computer.
I dont really care for the whole touch screen thing. I guess I would rather not have to worry about cleaning the fingerprints off of it all of the time.
Though I will say that it is a nice computer, but just not my cup of tea.
I just want something that I can easily work on and be able to burn pictures of my family onto a disc to keep forever, so a simple computer like my hubbys will do nicely!! Now if I can just manage to get an extra $600.00 saved up,ROFL.

Re: New Computers
They sound like nice ones. I want one of the touch screens you would be surprised at how little it gets prints on it. I think it has something to do with what they coat the screen with.
I would not do much touching it though, I would use the mouse and keyboard, it is nice to have all of it on one thing without alot of things you have to plug into a serge protector..

Re: New Computers
If you want a cheap computer for just getting on the internet and watching movies or simple things like that, you should check out Newegg. Right now they have an Acer desktop computer for $199 which includes free shipping!

While it comes with a mouse and keyboard, it doesn't come with a monitor, so you'll have to buy that seperate or use one that you already have..This is a very small computer in size, so if space is limited, this computer will be a great addition.
One downside to this computer is that it isn't ready for Wireless networks..but it does have a network port that you can use to plug it in directly to your router or modem. Or if you want, you can buy a Wireless network card for it.
Here's one that has great reviews, plugs into any USB port and only costs ~$28, including shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-111-_-Product

Re: New Computers
Thanks for this information. We are looking into this more, and proably going to buy two of them.
One for me and one for our daughter. This way she can do the little things she does online like play games, and I can do my online work and also play games,LOL.
Thanks so much for posting this. It proably has saved us several hundred dollars!!!

Re: New Computers
Sounds like you could use the new computer, I guess so could I, kids always want the more expensive one, but are they really worth it? For not much more you pay a lot more.

If you're only using the computer for word processing, watching movies, browsing the web and so forth, it's really not in your best interest to buy a top of the line computer. The cheaper lower-end models will be just fine for what you need them to do.
However, if you want to play graphics-intensive games, then yes, you definitely want to get a better computer...

Re: New Computers
Personally I do play alot of games, so I would like to have a better computer, though the Newegg computers would be great for the work that I do online. As for my daughter she pretty much just surfs the internet while researching homework, chats with friends and plays a couple of pinball games.
So these computers would be great for us, at least for a little while. I am looking forward to getting these and seeing just what they can do, I know they are going to work out perfectly.
