Default The rising price of education

Derek Bok, former president of Harvard, once said, “If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.” Though he was certainly right, it’s no secret that a college education is growing more and more costly each year.

According to the CNN/Money Web site, here are the most expensive colleges of the 2009-2010 school year:

• Sarah Lawrence College: $55,788

• Georgetown University: $52,161

• New York University: $51,993

• George Washington University: $51,775

• Johns Hopkins University: $51,690

• Columbia University: $51,544

• Wesleyan University: $51,432

• Trinity College: $51,400

• Washington University-St. Louis: $51,539

• Bates College, Vassar College (tie): $51,300
