Default What is your next major purchase?

With the economy in the sorry state it is in right now. What is the next major purchase you are planning to make? How long have you been saving to make this purchase possible?
I know that my hubby and I plan on purchasing a used car, and we have been saving for a while now. We are only able to save very little at a time. Because everything so expensive, most of our money is spent just on every day living needs and of course bills.

Also we are having some trouble deciding what kind of car we should look into getting... any ideas would be greatly welcomed. I mean we know we want something small to mid size and easy on gas. Other than that we could use some suggestions.

I'm afraid that I am also going to have to purchase a good used car, since mine has gone kaput on me and nobody seems to be able to figure out what is wrong with it........I think the poor thing is just tired and has a lot wrong with it, but it was a good car for a long time, so I have no complaints.

I don't know what kind of car I want at this time, but it will also be on the small side........no gas guzzlers for me. I'll probably go for a standard as they use so much less gas (unless my hubby is behind the wheel, but I won't let him drive it often.

I'll let you know what I decide to purchase, it may be a few months as I'm in no real hurry.......we do have another vehicle and I don't have to drive that often.....so I'm lucky in that respect.

I intend to buy a new car but a used new car. LOL
I can't afford a brand new one but there are good
used ones available.

I do intend to use car fax to find out if it has been
wrecked. I will also have a mechanic check it out
before I purchase it. Hopefully this will save me
from a lemon and alot of extra cash on repairs.

rofl, It sounds like we are all in the same boat. I too will be looking for a car within the next couple of months. And as you all said it has to be used, I cannot afford a new one right now. Currently I am driving a mini-van. It is a gas guzzler and it isn't running too well at all these days. My husband thinks the motor is going bad. It needs too many parts for us to get it running great again. It is quite old and I have put tons of miles on the poor thing. I really don't think it will get me back and forth to work this winter so somehow I gotta try to find another car or I will be walking in the snow!!
