When you care enough to spend the very most
In the mood for some extravagantly luxurious stuff? If you’ve got money—lots of it—here are a few items to check out:
• Wispa Gold. Cadbury reintroduced the popular candy bar Wispa Gold with a special edition, wrapped in gold leaf and priced to be worth its weight in gold. The world’s most expensive chocolate bar was priced at £ 961.4 (about $1,630) but a regular version priced at 55 pence hit British shops in September. Cadbury brought the bar back after 22,000 people joined Facebook’s “Bring back Cadbury’s Wispa Gold” group.
• Pink diamond. Most diamonds are white, but a very rare 5-carat pink diamond will go on sale in Hong Kong in December. Christie’s is handling the sale and expects it to go for $5 million–$7 million, and possibly break the previous record: $7.4 million for a 19.66-carat diamond sold in Geneva in 1994.
• BeoVision 4-103. The most expensive television on the market, the BeoVision 4-103 offers a 103-inch, 100Hz plasma screen in full HD, along with a gas cylinder-powered motorized stand that rotates and tilts to the viewer’s preferred viewing angle, and a sensor that measures ambient light and adjusts the screen’s brightness to suit. It’s available for a mere £ 85,000, or about $144,000.
