Who Should Pay for College?

I was reading this article about paying for college and parents who had been saving for their child who had to use that money to get through the recession. So the question is, Who should pay for college, parents or student?

It's a tough question because I imagine that every parent would gladly pay the college tuition to see their child improve their education and end up in a good career. I know that I would. But I also know that I can't do that. I can't afford it.

I also know though that it will be extremely difficult for my children to handle college plus working possibly a full-time job to pay for it. I have no idea how it will work out.

According to the article they feel that parents should do all they can to pay. Only 42% of students who do not get help from parents graduate from college.

I plan to help out all that I can at least with food and some living expenses but if things stay the way they are now thats about all I will be able to do.
