High Cost of Baggage Claim at Airports
Flying these days is a costly venture, many airports are adding to the already high price by charging to check baggage. Some are now adding to that high cost by charging double what it was.
Delta Air Lines Inc. announced on Tuesday that they will now be charging double for checking a second piece of luggage on domestic flights. The price will go from $25 to $50.
Most other carriers are charging $25 but it is believed that many will follow suit and raise their fee to $50 as well.
Extra fees are also imposed on bags weighing more than 50#. This can cost you an extra $50 to $90 on top of the other fees.
If you have time to plan ahead for your trip, you may want to consider shipping your luggage ahead of time. Fed Ex and UPS will ship anywhere in the United States and you may find it to be cheaper than paying all of the airport fees.
