Default How to protect yourself from an ‘identity’ crisis

Anyone can be the target of identity theft. To safeguard your money and your credit rating, take these common-sense precautions:

• Never give out personal information via phone or e-mail to people you don’t know.

• Do your homework on how online sites like PayPal and eBay work before you use them.

• Be skeptical of “business” e-mails with incorrect grammar and spelling errors.

• Don’t cash or deposit checks from people or businesses you don’t know.

• If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.

• Monitor your credit card and bank accounts even if you don’t use them very often.

• If you do become an identity theft victim, cancel your credit cards, call your bank or financial institution, and file a police report.

When money speaks, the truth keeps silent.

Great tips! With the financial crisis that we are facing today some people are now desperate on how they are going to earn money, to the point that they commit something illegal. The global financial crisis makes people to pay closer attention to their credit report. When credit was easy to get some people do not bother of saving money. But in crisis that is no longer the case. Having a good credit has now suddenly become important. But I guess it is now too late for this realization. The United States has now stricken by the financial crisis virus.

With our economy in the state it is in, more and more people are turning to theft of one kind or another. And this includes your identity. Always be careful, even when using ATMs as some thieves do actually put little gizmos on the machines that can read your pin numbers etc.

These gizmos are usually put on machines in out of the way places where the thief can retrieve the gizmo with less chance of getting caught.

As to saving money, that is something that is becoming harder and harder to do in todays economy.
