Default Living Wills

Living wills aren't something anyone wants to think about but they are very important. Living wills make sure that things are done as you would have them done. It can help eliminate all of the chaos that comes with a person's passing such as who gets property, who gets money and so on.

There are several important factors to consider when planning your living will.

You will want to name someone as a personal representative, an executor. This person is responsible of making sure your wishes are carried out. You can also name a sub executor in case the first one is unavailable for the duties.

Name your beneficiaries as to whom gets exactly what. This eliminates any arguments (or at least should).

Give specific directions as to the dividing of personal effects. You don't want sisters fighting over the tea pot! Name who is to get what items.

This can be a daunting task and it won't be accomplished in one day but knowing that you have it done will give you and your family peace of mind.

This is something that you dont hear often because no one ever wants to bring up the fact that its something that has to be done all the while no one wants to think about the passing of a dear one.

I know that even at my age which I am not all that old I have a living will already in place, because you just never know what is going to happen and when.

Its better to be prepared early on and make changes are they happen in life, rather than wait thinking that it will get done later and later may be to late.

I think that this is a very extremely important thing for people to do.My dad died suddenly at 55 years old and we had no idea that he was even sick.He had a massive heart attack while he was hard at work one day.

He had a will made up a few years back, but he was now widowed by that wife and now remarried, well long story short, his dead wife hated my sister and I and she had some kind of control over him and she make him write my sister and me out of his will. Before he died and for about 9 years dad and my sister and I had a totally different relationship,he told us that we were taken care of had anything ever happen to him.

Well not knowing that he was going to pass so soon,he never got around to updating his will, and his new wife got everything that he had and we got nothing because of the old will.

Please don't let this happen to your loved ones...

I am so sorry to hear that Rae74, that is not right at all. I dont mean to speak ill of your father or anyone else, but I just dont understand how a person male or female could be talked into writing a close family member out of a will.

Its just not right. I dont care how much I love the one that I am with, I would never write anyone out of my will, unless it was by my own choice and not the choice of someone else.

I have my living will and I have had it for a while now and keep it updated as things change in my life. I have no plans of letting anyone talk me into something I do not want at all.

Again Rae74 I am truely sorry to hear that this has happened to you. Its not right and I do feel for you!
