Default Wedding Costs

Why do people put themselves into a hole for their weddings? Don't get me wrong, It is a very special occassion but I don't understand why they choose to put themselves in debt so much before they even really get started on their lives together. If you ask me, thats not a great way to start a marriage. They say the number two cause of divorce is over finances. The number one is cheating.

I know of a couple who got loans to cover their wedding. It cost them almost $35,000! They just had to have all of the bells and whistles for their wedding. It was true love and eas going to last forever. That was five years ago. Now they are divorced and fighting over child support and still paying off the loans. It just seems ridiculous to me.

I got married wearing a jean skirt, tank top and sandals to my highschool sweetheart in the mayors office for $20 bucks and we are still together today. I would never, ever have spent all of that money on a wedding.

aint nothing wrong with getting married in jeans and a t-shirt lol i did it my second wedding. i agree with you i think its crazy to do that to yourself for one day. its rediculous how wedding dresses cost as much as cars and you only get to wear them ONCE!!!!! none the less people still buy them expensive gowns. they might be beautiful but a dress for 10,000 dollars it can be beautiful hanging on the rack!

my first wedding i wore my moms dress and over all spent about 250 dollars and had me a nice little wedding with friends and family. we lasted 13 years. now im getting married to a keeper this time and were going to the court house and getting married. maybe once were more stable financially we will have a actual wedding, but i can promise you my dress will not be over or anywhere close to 1,000 dollars.

I also got married in jeans and a tee shirt and we will be having our 26th wedding anniversary on July 11th.

I am married to one of the most kind and considerate men it has ever been my pleasure to know. Heres to lasting happiness and cheap weddings. Lol
