Default Yard Sales and Consignment Shops

One way to supplement your families income is to go through your home and gather everything you dont use or dont wear and have a yard or garage sale.

These are usually items that you would normally give away or throw away and why do that when you can sell it? A lot of people actually look in the newspaper to find yard sales and garage sales and shop there regularly.

You could also, possibly find a Flea Market in your neighborhood that is open daily and have them buy your articles outright, eliminating the need of a yard sale.

We have a consignment shop not too far from us that will take your used items and give you store credit for them. This way, you can find some very nice clothing articles and household items to buy for the money made from your castoffs.

You may not make a lot of money doing this, but any money that you do make will help with things you do need to buy outright.

Default Yard Sales and Consignment Shops

I work in a small consignment shop and know first-hand the benefits. We do a 50/50 split with consignors on a 90 day consignment. You make more of a profit doing this than you would having a yard sale most of the time and you don't have all of the hassles of organizing one. It isn't like a thrift store, the items brought in have to be of quality with no stains rips or tears. All zippers and buttons must be functional. Whatever it is has to be of good condition for resale. This benefits the shoppers, they know they can get quality for a bargain price.

Moneysense is right, there is no sense in throwing out the stuff you don't use anymore. Sell it and make a few bucks.

At the end of every school season, I go through my children's school clothes and whatever will no longer fit for the next year, we consign. We then use the profits to purchase new school clothes, some even at the consignment shop!
